The ideal candidate is a hands-on field leader with proven experience managing ground-up commercial projects, coordinating multiple trades, maintaining strong jobsite documentation, and driving projects to successful completion. This role requires travel to project locations and the ability to represent XLNT professionally with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, and vendors.

As the on-site leader, the Traveling Superintendent plays a critical role in protecting the schedule, maintaining quality standards, solving field issues, and ensuring each project is delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the contract documents.

Compensation

Competitive salary based on experience, with travel compensation/per diem provided.

Duties

  • Lead all daily field operations and serve as the primary on-site representative for XLNT Contracting.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, inspectors, and field personnel to maintain project schedule and workflow.
  • Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals to ensure work is installed correctly and according to contract requirements.
  • Maintain and update project schedules, look-ahead schedules, daily reports, photos, manpower logs, and field documentation.
  • Conduct regular quality control inspections and ensure work meets project specifications, client expectations, and XLNT standards.
  • Enforce jobsite safety requirements, conduct safety meetings, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Identify field issues early and communicate clearly with the Project Manager to resolve conflicts, delays, or cost impacts.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, deliveries, site logistics, and subcontractor sequencing.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and hold trade partners accountable for manpower, schedule, quality, and safety.
  • Use Procore, Bluebeam, and other construction management tools for documentation, communication, and project coordination.
  • Support change order documentation, field directives, RFIs, and project closeout requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, professional jobsite at all times.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent on commercial ground-up construction projects.
  • Ability to travel and manage projects outside of the local market as needed.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and jobsite coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades on active jobsites.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Outlook, and basic construction technology.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and jobsite safety best practices.
  • Ability to document daily activities, field conditions, delays, changes, and project progress accurately.
  • Must be dependable, organized, proactive, and able to lead with urgency and professionalism.
  • Experience with travel centers, truck service facilities, fuel/convenience, automotive, retail, or similar commercial projects is a plus.
