Archaeologists are responsible for the day-to-day management of one or more projects, from the proposal through curation. On most projects, Archaeologists serve as the primary point of contact for clients, agencies, the public, media, subcontractors, and office staff throughout the life of a project. In addition to these direct lines of communication, Archaeologists are responsible for setting up and managing projects in Otis (Brockington's project management software). This includes the Project Summary page, Workflow (including appropriate weights, tickets, project blog, the project team, and flags) to ensure that the project team and finance department stay informed.

In the field, Archaeologists are responsible for executing the research design and for the collection, storage, and transfer of field data, including artifacts, notes, photographs, GPS files, and other associated records, to the appropriate lab or GIS personnel. Safety is everyone's responsibility; however, the Archaeologist is responsible for creating and disseminating the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for each project. It is critical that the Archaeologist lead by example with respect to their work ethic, judgment, technical expertise, and health and safety.
